Random Pictures -

Blessed.

A mouse pancake!
-After the umpteenth attempt.

She's been sitting up this month...

Sort Of. Sometimes.

You know it's hot when...

You start needing your AC on - DUH

Your m&ms are melting on the counter

You've been getting hot flashes, and you're a man

You need a spatula to remove your clothing

You need sunscreen just to walk to your car

You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron

You discover that it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car

You notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance

The trees are whistling for the dogs

People walking down the sidewalk spontaneously burst into flames

Hmmmm... Tomorrow it's supposed to be 90 degrees! When does the pool open again?!?!

We Had An "Egg"cellent Easter

Some"BUNNY" wouldn't sit still for pictures

We were "DYING" to wish you a "HOPPY" EASTER

Better Late Than Never ;)

They Just Keep Growing

Caden had his 5 year wellness check-up. He got all his shots last year (5 of them), so he didn't need any this year, and won't need any until he's 11. His check-up was a breeze. Other than some gagging when he had to open and say, "aaaahhh" - there was nothing special about it. He has great eyesight and is still in the 90th percentile for height and 50th for weight.

We got to register him for KINDERGARTEN last week. I still can't believe he's really five years old! While I was filling out the paperwork, Caden was able to go check out a Kindergarten room and visit with a few kids and teachers. He was shy for about a second, but then took the lady's hand and never even looked back at me! He really is SO ready for school. Hopefully I'll be the only one shedding tears come fall. ;)

After signing him up, we went to the brand new city park so Caden could show Daddy his new tricks on the monkey bars. That kid is just learning and growing by the second.

Ambree got her 6 month wellness check-up at the same time as Caden's appointment. I love it when I can kill two birds with one stone. She's doing great - in the 87th percentile for weight and 90th for height. She seems to be following her brother's growth pattern and her head is in the 95th percentile as well. It's all those brains they get from their Mama. Ha ha.

We asked Caden if he'd like to take the shots so his sister didn't have to get them, but there was no hesitation in his "NO WAY" answer. Poor Ambree has a GREAT pair of lungs and she was sure to use them to let us know her opinion of those needles. When I took the band-aids off later on, I found huge marks on her legs. She got bruised BAD! She still has lumps in her thigh muscles and I wonder if they will ever go away.

Crawfish Boil -

It's a southern thing.

You shouldn't play with your food, son.

Now doesn't that look yummy?
I prefer crab over crawfish any day. ;)

Mirror Friend

Yep, she loves her own reflection...

...but can you really blame her?!?

Parties

Adam's been wanting to do this since before we got married...
A CRAWFISH BOIL!

Finally, he got his chance. He had to work on his birthday, but some co-workers were able to come over and those barbarians stuffed themselves to the brim! Adam's already planning his next crawfish get-together.

Personally, I prefer crab. ;)

We threw together a pirate birthday party this week for Caden and it was so much fun. I was practically in tears when I had to put FIVE candles on his cake this year!

Caden didn't want to turn FIVE either. He told me he just wants to live with me forever and never grow up. So we made a big celebration out of it to keep our spirits up about this whole turning FIVE business.

FIVE little friends made it to the party. They had FIVE activities: played with balloons, got pirate tattoos, went on a treasure hunt, hit a very stubborn pinata, and finished with cake. Let's hope next year doesn't zoom by as fast as this year did!

The Great Outdoors

We finally got our chance to go and we took it.
Do we know how to camp, or do we know how to camp?

Family, Fun, and Food ... I LOVE CAMPING!

Unpredictable

We are learning to make the most of it when the weather ruins our plans...by now we know that Texas weather can be so unpredictable.

Too windy and rainy to go out CAMPING like we had planned...

So we went camping INSIDE.

Before the storm came, the winds were outrageous.
The upside to wind - you gotta have it to fly a kite!

Poof.

I wanted to start a blogging again for some time now, but I just  didn't  know where or how to begin.   I know I kinda just disappe...
